Project: Colorado Preservation, Inc. has received a grant from the State Historical Fund, a program of the Colorado Historical Society, and the Donnell-Kay Foundation to study schools throughout Colorado. During this project, CPI will be doing a survey of schools in order to create a comprehensive catalog of buildings currently owned by school districts. After the survey is completed, Colorado Preservation, Inc. will produce DVDs that highlight historic schools with successful rehab projects in order to share strategies and information about rehabilitating historic schools. Intern Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for completing reconnaissance-level survey forms for all school buildings in Colorado at least 50 years old. The intern will compile previously collected information on the schools and produce survey forms ready to be submitted to the Colorado Historical Society. This job will primarily be based in our offices in downtown Denver, but a few fieldtrips to photograph school buildings may be required. Time Frame: The project will require 10 weeks to complete. You may select the 10 week period between June 1st and August 31st which best fits your summer schedule. Qualifications: We are seeking a historic preservation/public history graduate student or an undergraduate interested considering a graduate program in these fields. A successful candidate must be organized and detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience with architectural surveys and mapping is a plus. |
