Type of position: This is a full-time position that will last 18-20 weeks, beginning at the end of May, 2008 and ending no earlier than October 5, 2008. The period of employment may be extended with mutual agreement of the employer and employee. Hours: Work hours will be from 7:00 am 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday, except for pre-defined holidays. Regular hours are required; flexibility may be granted when a revised schedule is presented to the Executive Director at least three working days prior. Responsibilities: The Community Preservation Program Manager works under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, and is expected to represent the organization, as delegated by the Executive Director with regard to assisting other agencies, organizations, and committees. The Community Preservation Program Manager will directly manage the Community Preservation Program (CPP) for the 2008 year. CPP is a hands-on preservation activity where volunteers assist with exterior maintenance on owner-occupied historic homes. Duties include locating potential project houses; contacting the owners; determining appropriate rehabilitation to effect the greatest positive outcome in a cost-efficient manner; preparing state tax credit applications, if applicable; overseeing preparation of the houses with regard to paint, structure, siding, et al; estimating, ordering and receiving supplies and materials; and overseeing volunteers on workdays on two weekends in late September. This activity includes outdoor work and the ability to move large objects, such as ladders. Requirements: Skills " Ability to effectively supervise and manage volunteers and workers from a broad range of socio-economic groups. " Ability to organize, plan and implement goals established by the Executive Director. " Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple projects. " Ability to do manual labor out-of-doors during the heat of Summer. Qualifications " Knowledge of paint preparation techniques. " Light construction experience helpful, but not required. " Excellent written and oral communications skills. |
