Description Become a part of PreservationNation, the National Trust for Historic Preservations organization-wide branding, outreach, engagement and communications project a virtual town square where people can share proven tools, make connections, and get inspired to save historic places. Interns will work in various departments to assist in loading PreservationNation content onto our new website. This will involve copying some current web content into new pages, re-purposing material from various other formats, and editing and adapting material to new messaging standards, new web content guidelines and new Web2.0 and social networking uses. Interns will help identify usefulness of material for various purposes and will tag it for interest topics and suggest linkages to other programs, pages and sites. Content areas will include our Gulf Coast Recovery efforts, Rural Heritage, Community Revitalization (Main Street, Affordable Housing, Tax Credits, etc), Advocacy, Preservation magazine, Historic Sites, and more. Through their day to day work, interns will gain in-depth exposure to these and other topics within historic preservation, as well as experience in principles of online communication and web management, and will learn to use Convio content management tools. Washington office interns will take part in weekly brown bag lunches, tours, site visits and other opportunities to learn about preservation first hand and to network with professionals in the field. Qualifications Requirements include some experience working with web content. A familiarity with CMS-based websites and Web2.0 and social networking technology is a plus, as is an understanding of Adobe PhotoShop, Microsoft Publisher, and project planning. Some knowledge of databases (especially MS Access), word processing, and spreadsheet software is required. The intern should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to analyze and organize a large volume of information is essential. |
