Hours: 5 Days/Wk, 40 Hours/Wk, 5/2008- 10/2008 (dates flexible)

Company Description:

The USDA Forest Service is dedicated to Caring for the land and serving the people. It is a multi-use agency charged with the stewardship of forests, water quality and wetlands. The Tallac Historic Site is managed by the Recreation Department, Interpretive Services and Heritage Resources Divisions.

The museum concentrates its efforts on the development of tourism in the Lake Tahoe Basin between 1850-1940, the significance of Elias J. Lucky Baldwin to the Tahoe area, and the related period of opulence and luxury.

Job Qualifications:

History, Museology, Recreation, Anthropology, Historic Preservation majors. Graduate students preferred but not necessary. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision. Proven people skills. Interest in California history a plus. Must be able to walk long distances.

Job Description:

The internship emphasizes the operation of a historic site with an active volunteer program. The site consists of a house museum and interns will provide guided tours to the visiting public. General duties will include providing interpretive programs and staffing the museum, as well as working on assigned individual projects. Please e-mail with any additional questions.
