Noyes House Museum

The Noyes House Museum, Morrisville, Vermont Built in 1820, the Noyes House Museum is a two-story federal-style brick mansion built by the Safford family, and was the first location to be settled in the village of Morrisville. The seventeen-room mansion includes a post-and-beam carriage barn, photographs, furnishings, toys, household and farm tools, quilts, costumes, military artifacts, pottery, and other artifacts related to industry, home life, and leisure activities in the 19th and 20th centuries. The collections include local and regional research archives and an extensive photograph collection available for public viewing.

Internships at the Noyes House Museum allow flexibility to suit student interests.

Projects and areas for study include:

Historical research - using primary documents, objects and photographs

Archaeological research - excavations on site occurring June 22-Aug 7

Collections management - accessioning, cataloging, cleaning and object storage

Visitor experience - guiding tours, editing script and developing exhibits

Marketing - website development, press releases and event promotion

Program management - annual Open House with the Morrisville Military Band and

Saturday family workshops

Strategic planning - implementing policies and procedures into everyday practice

Building and grounds maintenance - building improvements

At the beginning of your internship, you and the instructor will identify your areas of

focus for the duration of the internship. Graduate and undergraduate credits available

through the University of Vermont's History Department.
