Pasadena Heritage is one of the oldest historic preservation groups in Southern California and the second largest in the state. With more than 2,000 members, it is also one of the City of Pasadena's largest membership organizations. Pasadena Heritage works to protect Pasadena's architectural and cultural resources; advocates for endangered buildings; offers tours, workshops, lecture and other educational programs; and provides consultation and referral services for members. Its three goals, Awareness, Assistance and Action, have been dubbed the three A's of preservation and have been adopted by many other groups over the years.

Pasadena Heritage is currently seeking applicants for an Education Intern, who will assist with the planning, research, and implementation of the organizations educational programming, including our annual Craftsman Weekend, a three-day conference highlighting the American Arts and Crafts Movement. Projects include assisting the Education Director with the research of individual houses and historic neighborhoods, writing detailed histories and architectural descriptions for use by docents, compiling information for bus and walking tours, and assisting with the logistical details of all of the educational programs. The intern will also assist with Pasadena Heritages summer bridge event programming and with updating the organizations architectural files. Excellent organization and communication skills a must. This is a full-time, ten-week position from June  August, 2009 with a stipend of $3,500.

This position is funded by a Multicultural Undergraduate Summer Internship Grant from the Getty Foundation, which is intended for members of groups underrepresented in the professions related to the visual arts. Applicants must be of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander descent, and must meet the following additional criteria: (1) a currently enrolled undergraduate student who has completed at least one semester of college by June 2009; (2) will not graduate before December 2009; (3) must be a resident or attend college in Los Angeles County.
