FRIENDS of the Upper East Side Historic Districts is seeking an intern to assist in the daily operation of an independent non-profit membership organization dedicated to preserving the architectural legacy, livability, and sense of place of the Upper East Side and its 126 individual landmarks and six historic districts. The intern will assist the Executive Director with advocacy issues and special projects such as our current work expanding the boundaries of the Upper East Side Historic District. In addition, the candidate will work with community groups and government agencies on preservation issues and projects, appearing before the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, the community board and other public venues. The intern will, when needed, help with general office administration and special events. The candidate should be able to work 10-15 hours per week. This internship is unpaid. Hours are flexible.
