Chattel Architecture, Planning & Preservation, Inc., a full service historic preservation consulting firm in Los Angeles, California, represents governmental agencies and private ventures. We aim to successfully balance project goals with the myriad of historic preservation regulations without sacrificing principles on either side. Comprised of professionals meeting the Secretary of the Interiors Professional Qualifications Standards (36 CFR Part 61, Appendix A) in architectural history and historic architecture, the firm offers consulting services including historic resource evaluation, analysis of project effects, and consultation on national, state and local historic preservation statutes and regulations. We are currently engaged in many projects in the greater Los Angeles area that encompass a wide range of services, including design consultation for the City of Newport Beach for Richard Neutras Mariners Medical Arts Building, a historic resources survey of the Hollywood Redevelopment Project Area, a Supplemental Historic Structures Report for Frank Lloyd Wrights Hollyhock House at Barnsdall Park, an update to the Rancho Cucamonga General Plan, and a survey of the General Hospital building of Los Angeles County / University of Southern California Medical Center. Other projects of the firm have included Mare Island Naval Shipyard (Vallejo), Far East Caf← Building (Los Angeles), Twohy Building (San Jos←), Beverly Hills Womens Club (Beverly Hills), United States Post Office and Court House (Las Vegas), Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (Los Angeles), Stuart Pharmaceutical Company (Pasadena), and Breed Street Shul (Los Angeles).

We are currently seeking a talented and energetic part-time intern who wants to gain valuable work experience in historic preservation, while providing research assistance and general administrative support. We desire applicants with related experience or strong interest in architecture, urban studies, history or historic preservation. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and related applications is essential; knowledge of photo applications and GIS recommended. We offer flexible hours, a casual workplace and competitive salary.
