This Senior Planner leads the preservation team of the Planning Division of Salt Lake City Corporation. Historic Preservation is a citywide initiative that will soon be guided by the Salt Lake City Historic Preservation Plan. The main duty of the Senior Planner will be to implement this plan and build the connections and resource necessary to do so. The Plan includes development of new preservation tools, public education, continuing education for staff and commission, and updating procedures, policies and review tools. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage program activities; to establish goals and objectives; to devise solutions to administrative problems; to develop and evaluate policies and procedures; to prepare concise reports; to testify at hearings; and to plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in urban planning or a closely related field and six (6) years full time paid professional experience in city planning including the simultaneous coordination of various planning team projects. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis, but must include a minimum of three (3) years experience in the simultaneous coordination of various Planning team projects.

Preference will be given to candidates who have an MA or MS degree in architecture, architectural history, historic preservation, preservation studies, history, cultural resource management, planning or a closely related field. Desire possession of an AICP certificate.
