Historic New England seeks an intern to work with Property Care staff during Summer 2008. Property Care is the team responsible for the preservation and maintenance of 36 historic house museums and their landscapes located in five New England states. The Property Care Intern will work on projects related to the preservation and maintenance of the sites. The primary task includes compiling information from files to develop a component of a Historic Structures Report for one of Historic New England's properties. This project includes creating a basic chronology of construction and preservation efforts as well as identifying key images from the period of interpretation. Auxiliary tasks can include data management, site assessments, and other field work. Applicants working toward an advanced degree in historic preservation, architecture, engineering, conservation, art history, history or other related field with an interest in historic architecture and preservation are encouraged to apply.
