The City of Tacoma is recruiting for a part-time Program Development Specialist to support the Historic Preservation Officer and Landmarks Preservation Commission. Duties of this position will include scheduling, project review, and technical analysis for the Landmarks Commission; assisting applicants with the review process; assist with public meeting planning and coordination for new historic districts; conduct maintenance of historic preservation public information programs, including website maintenance, publications, historic database improvement, and program literature updates; provide pro-tem support to the Historic Preservation Officer; respond to public inquiries regarding the program and City landmarks; respond to special research requests. This position conducts site and field visits as needed. This is a part-time position with pro-rated benefits. Bachelors Degree in business, public administration or related field and two years experience in business, international affairs, banking, finance or community and economic development. Desired Qualifications: Bachelors Degree with a focus on historic preservation, urban planning, public administration, archaeology or related field and a minimum of five years of experience in historic preservation and/or community/neighborhood planning. Experience working in a political environment and having familiarity with the application of local and federal historic preservation standards for rehabilitation projects is highly desired. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Valid Washington Driver's License.
