The Haines City's Main Street & Merchants Association is an independent group of community-minded business persons and residents committed to developing the economic activity and aesthetic of the core downtown area. We work closely with the City, and other community organizations to create a vibrant and charming environment, true to our city's traditional small town roots. This is diversified marketing, promotional and recruiting work. The person assigned to this position will be responsible for marketing and recruiting new businesses to locate in the downtown area. They will work with the board of directors to recruit new members to the organization. Participate in the development, implementation and coordination of downtown revitalization activities and strategies programs to promote traffic in the downtown area. The Executive Director works with considerable independence and must be self motivated.

Duties

Manages administrative aspects of the organization, bookkeeping and clerical.

Encourage a cooperative climate with other downtown or community organization.

Develops and maintains a data system to track the progress of locating new businesses in the downtown area.

Plan and coordinate all special events and promotions.

Develops, in conjunction with the Board, appropriate downtown committees.

Assists business and property owners with improvement projects.

Help to build productive relationships with other public entities such as, the City of Haines City, Haines City EDC and the Haines City Northeast Polk County Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Qualifications

Self motivated, experience in sales, marketing and leadership. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong relationship building qualities and passion for the community. General knowledge of accounting: Quick Books, etc. The ability to work well and to motivate multiple personalities. Excellent business and personal references. Flexibility in work schedule, scope of position will include some nights and weekends. Must be physically capable to perform essential function as required. Internet Savvy, real estate or retail marketing experience. Grant writing, or historic preservation experience. Small business development and or nonprofit management experience.
