Looking for Field Conservators for potential outdoor sculpture conservation project in Miami, Florida. The collection to be conserved under this project consists of 85 pieces of various types of materials such as, limestone, marble, coral stone, terra-cotta and lead. The pieces present a great variety of dimensions, conditions and complexity of treatment. The collection is currently in a state of severe deterioration and disrepair due to the effects of South Florida's subtropical climate, saline environment, deferred maintenance, and poor old repairs (e.g.,conistsing of ferrous pins, Portland cement and synthetic resins) have contributed to extensive erosion, spelling, friability, cracking, breakage, dimensional losses, bio-growth, and general instability.

The project will be under the direction of the Senior Conservator, who will design treatment protocols and documentation procedures. The field conservators will be responsible for daily implementation of treatment options and collecting field data. Due to the long term potential for the project the conservators should be from the immediate Miami area or be willing to relocate to southern Florida during the duration of the project which is expected to be between one to two years. Relocation expenses are not included and are the responsibility of the potential employee.

Demonstrated experience in statuary conservation and AIC membership is a plus. Due to a short lead time we need to have the interested parties communicate to us very soon!
