Major Responsibilities: Manage Architecture Design Studio in the Capital Projects Division of the Parks Department to ensure design excellence for all architecture projects throughout the Parks system. Participate in the selection process for Architect/Engineering (A/E) consultants, provide liaison with the A/E community. Oversee and facilitate the work of consultants, provide executive support for staff managing design projects throughout the Agency portfolio. Achieve Agency goals and legal requirements for design, construction, sustainability, park maintenance and operations. Determine and prioritize assignments to achieve quarterly and annual project completion goals. Directly supervise two Deputy Directors in their implementation of the Departments quarterly and annual plans. Manage the architecture staff and resources to maintain established schedules and resolve design or construction problems. Prepare and present exhibits and reports. Represent Parks at external meetings and reviews. Supervise special and large scale projects in conjunction with Parks Department staff and other agencies. Collaborate with the Personnel Department to develop staff training for professional development, continuing education seminars, LEED certification and licensure. Qualification Requirements: A valid NYS Registration as an Architect and six (6) years of full-time paid experience in architectural work, at least two (2) years of which shall have been as an administrative architect. Additional Qualifications Preferred: Over 5 years experience supervising teams of workers, including consultants, on complex projects.Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS and project tracking software a plus.Knowledge of the following specialized disciplines: sustainable/ green design, historic preservation/ conservation, ADA/Universal design concepts, urban design and/or public art.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Photoshop and 3D Rendering.Driver license valid in the State of New York. |
