The primary goals of UTRF are to complete a comprehensive restoration and preservation of the building, promote architectural awareness and education through the use of the space, and introduce a worldwide public to the significance of this one of a kind masterpiece of modern architecture.

Weekend Site Manager for Unity Temple Restoration Foundation

Location: Frank Lloyd Wrights Unity Temple, 875 Lake Street, Oak Park, IL

Type: Part Time  8  10 hours a week, plus federal holidays

Preferred Education: Associates degree or two years of college

Description:

The Weekend Site Manager works two days a week and federal holidays. As the sole staff manager on-site during weekend hours and holidays, the Weekend Site Manager must have a clear understanding of UTRFs mission, policies, operations and activities. The Weekend Site Manager is UTRFs primary visitor service representative and must be considerate, attentive; knowledgeable and articulate. The Weekend Site Manager must contribute to the overall success of the organization by working to achieve or exceed UTRFs annual admission, merchandise sales, and membership growth goals.

Hours:

o Saturday: 12:30 to 4:30 pm, with extra time as needed

o Sunday: 12:30 to 4:30 pm, with extra time as needed

o Federal Holidays: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

(UTRF is closed for tourism on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day)

Duties Include:

o Opening the building

o Opening Tourism Program: setting up exterior and interior signage, setting up merchandise displays

o Greeting visitors, collecting admission, and assisting with merchandise sales and memberships

o Providing visitors with orientation to building and printed materials

o Tracking all sales and visitation

o Coordinating group tours with staff and volunteers

o Miscellaneous office tasks

o Closing tourism: breaking down and storing signage and merchandise displays

o Reconciling cash and credit sales and visitation at days end

o Closing the building

Requirements:

o Retail and Management experience a plus

o Flexibility and maturity essential

o Experience in a museum or historic site environment a plus

o Excellent math and verbal communication skills

o Excellent customer service skills demonstrating initiative

o Attentive to detail
