Job Summary
The Communications Intern will be an integral member of the Communications team at the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He/she will assist with high-profile programs, media relations, daily operations, and the monitoring, development and maintenance of online content in a fast-paced communications department.
Responsibilities
" Assist with the development, repurposing and editing of content for the website;
" Manage online content for high-profile National Trust programs: Dozen Distinctive Destination, 11 Most Endangered Historic Places;
" Maintain current content for Communications office, including Preservation in the News Blog and press site;
" Build strategic media lists;
" Manage and edit digital assets;
" Administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
" Current or recent undergraduate or graduate student; focus in communications, historic preservation, history or journalism desirable.
" Experience working in communications, marketing, or administration;
" Experience producing online content and user experiences;
" Experience creating and managing detailed projects, including drafting project plans, schedules, and reports.
" Excellent writing, editing, and research skills required;
" Extensive experience with computers, digital media and the Internet required;
" Strong word, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills required;
" Familiarity with content management systems, Photoshop and FTP preferred.
" Must be high-energy, task-driven and detail-oriented.
" Must have ability to work productively and independently.
" Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
" Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
" Must be entrepreneurial and creative.
