Colorado Preservation, Inc. was founded through a grassroots effort in 1984 as Colorado's only private, nonprofit, statewide historic preservation organization, CPI provides assistance to Colorado communities through a statewide network of information, education, training, expertise and advocacy. The Endangered Places Program was established in 1997 to identify and save Colorado's threatened historic places. Colorado's Most Endangered Places List identifies, raises awareness and provides assistance to save these sites. Seventy-four sites have been designated since the first list was produced in 1998. Job Summary: Assist a wide variety of historic preservation projects in Colorado. Provide support and administration for publicity and assistance for threatened sites. Serve as preservation advocate, expert and project manager. Coordinate part-time and seasonal assistants. Qualifications: Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in historic preservation, business/project management, or real estate and two years related experience or equivalent. Experience in facilitation and mediation is preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions in difficult and complex situations, assemble innovative partnerships and communicate with individuals of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, both orally and in writing is required. A basic knowledge of historic preservation methods and procedures and governmental policies governing historic resources is preferred as is experience in developing funding strategies for programs and projects. Grant management and leadership skills a necessity. Candidate must have the ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives without direct supervision. Extensive travel (often overnight) is required. Note: This is a termed position (one year), with the possibility for additional employment. |
