Baltimore Heritage, Inc. is seeking a full-time field officer to lead the organizations efforts to preserve and revitalize Baltimores predominately African American historic neighborhoods. Baltimore Heritage, Inc. is Baltimores city-wide non-profit historic preservation organization. Founded in 1960, our mission is to preserve and promote historic buildings and neighborhoods.
Salary is in the low to mid $30s.
Duties
* Assist homeowners in developing and implementing home maintenance plans
* Assist homeowners in completing historic rehabilitation tax credit applications
* Organize walking tours, heritage talks, and other education programming in historic African American neighborhoods
* Assist neighborhood associations in historic preservation projects
* Work with neighborhood associations and others in developing preservation-based economic development strategies
* Work with city and state officials on redevelopment planning
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
* B.A. or B.S. from an accredited four-year college in historic preservation, community organizing, or a related field
* An ability to get to locations throughout Baltimore City (valid drivers license and car preferred)
* An ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
Qualified candidates will also exhibit the following:
* Passion for history and urban neighborhoods, and a strong desire to teach and learn about Baltimores history
* Ability and desire to work with a diverse array of people
* Experience or desire to create and implement a strong grass-roots network using historic preservation principles
* Ability to conceptualize and implement new programs with little supervision
* Ability to maintain positive relationships with other staff and board of directors
* Good oral communications skills and comfort with public speaking
* Strong writing ability
* Computer literacy in Microsoft products
* Understanding of web site design and maintenance is a plus
