AECOM is seeking a full-time Architectural Historian for the environmental planning department of our New York City office. The environmental planning department primarily develops environmental impact analyses for public and private development projects in compliance with federal, state and local regulations, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). The architectural historian would largely be involved in the assessment of the eligibility of historic resources for listing in the National Register; analysis of potential impacts on historic resources; and surveys and identification of historic resources and visual resources.

Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 2-4 years experience with a MS/MA in historic preservation or a BA in art history with specialization in architectural history. Experience with architectural history and archaeology-based Section 106 and NEPA analyses is highly desirable. Responsibilities include field survey, research, and preparation of cultural resources surveys and environmental assessments and impact statements. Planning, field survey experience, and familiarity with New York metropolitan area preferred. Experience conducting cultural resources studies for Department of Defense and state transportation agencies a plus. Excellent writing skills a must.
