SUMMARY This is a skilled and technical position that involves the overall revitalization of the Citys Renaissance District. This position serves as a full time advocate for downtown and as an authority on information, resources, and programs related to the revitalization efforts which adhere to the National Main Street Four Point approach of: Design, Organization, Promotions, and Economic Restructuring. The Renaissance Covington Manager will work closely with the Economic Development Director, Covington Business Council, Historic Preservation Officer, Business Retention and Recruitment Specialist, and the Housing Development Director as it relates to Renaissance District housing. This position will have limited supervision and reports to the Economic Development Director, City Administration and the Renaissance Covington Board of Directors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Coordinates activities for the Renaissance Covington District and its committeesManages all administrative aspects of the program, to include, but not limited to purchasing, recor keeping, budget development and grant writingDeveloping and conducting on-going public awarenessAssist property and business owners with physical improvement projects and provides technical assistance regarding City incentivesCoordinate joint promotional eventsTrack the progress of the program and complete annual certification submission to the Kentucky Heritage CouncilMaintain and enhance strong and productive relationships with other City staff and appropriate public agencies and private business ownersCoordinate Renaissance Covington District event activitiesProvide technical assistance with streetscape improvements and maintenance programsManage the Citys Cultural Heritage Tourism Program (Experience Covington)Maintain and update the Renaissance Covington web pageAppear for work and complete assigned tasks within a reasonable period of timeThis position requires occasional out-of-town and overnight travelWork in a safe manner, observing all safety rules, and pose no significant risk to the health and safety of othersAssist the Economic Development Director, Historic Preservation Officer, Business Retention and Recruitment Specialist, and Housing Development Coordinator as it relates to the Renaissance Covington DistrictAssist with Renaissance Board member recruitment, staffing Board meetings, facilitating Board Committees, and drafting and maintaining agendas, minutes, financial statements, and other documents as may be required.Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Required EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor Degree in planning, marketing, communications, public relations, business, preservation, or related field and a minimum of 5 years experience in building public-private partnerships between government, residential and commercial entities or a combination of experience and education.Experience managing a Non-Profit , 501(c)3 organizationKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Necessary to Accomplish Duties Experience and education in areas to include commercial historic district revitalization and development, content sensitive designs, city planning, architecture, market research, preservation, and organizational management (non-profit).Event planning and public relations experience.Grant writing and fund raising.Ability to understand and follow the Main Street 4 Four Point approach.Experience with modern office equipment and the effective use of personal computers.Ability to use basic website editing tools.Ability to communicate effectively and prepare reports requiring writing and reading abilities.Negotiating skills and techniques; consensus building skills.Customer service skills and techniques.Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
