The Historic Preservation and Outreach Planner position will support the Montgomery County Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) and the Historic Preservation Section through the implementation of the "Education and Outreach Plan for Historic Preservation." The selected individual will plan and implement educational outreach programs and materials to promote the HPC and historic preservation in Montgomery County; provide support for the County Executive Award for Historic Preservation programs; and coordinate and administer the Historic Preservation Grant fund. The incumbent may also assist with the identification and evaluation of resources for listing in the Master Plan for Historic Preservation and with the review of Historic Area Work Permits.

Minimum Qualifications:

Senior Planner:

Masters degree in planning, architecture, parks, engineering, environmental science, or equivalent disciplines related to the job function and one year of progressively responsible professional level planning experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Planner:

Bachelor's degree in planning, architecture, parks, engineering, environmental science, or related subjects and one (1) year of professional planning experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Supplemental Information:

Strong technical writing and presentation skills are essential, as are excellent computer skills, including use of desktop and presentation software.

Local travel throughout Montgomery County and elsewhere in Maryland is required. Attendance at evening and/or weekend meetings approximately 2 times per month is required.
