The Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism (CCT) is pleased to offer a part-time historic preservation fellowship open to recent college graduates with a demonstrated interest in the historic preservation and public history. CCT is committed to providing educational opportunities in historic preservation for young people. We believe the best way to build participation in historic preservation is to offer first-hand experience in the varied aspects of the historic preservation field. The fellowship is designed to provide on-the-job training and meaningful learning experiences for qualified individuals aspiring to careers in the arts. Fellows will: work closely with the Commissions professional staffmeet and interact with a wide variety of arts, culture, tourism and historicpreservations professionalsestablish contacts at the state, regional, and national levelsgain managerial and technical skills in specific areas of interestdevelop a broad overview and perspective of the functions of a state agencyResponsibilities: The Historic Preservation Fellow will assist with all the aspects of archival research, photography, website review and coordination of historic preservation projects related to the identification and promotion of Connecticuts historic buildings, districts and sites. Fellow will assist in managing databases, updating public information (lists, logs, brochures, and photographs) and assisting in the development of heritage tourism information. Stipend: The fellow will be awarded a $30,000.00 annual stipend with a required commitment of 30 hours a week for 50 weeks. Eligibility: CCT is seeking highly motivated college graduates with a strong interest in historic preservation and public history. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills are necessary. Candidates must possess strong computer/database skills including PC, Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, and Access), digital camera/photography experience, as well as competence in writing and editing. Candidates must be able to work independently.
