New Hampshire's "State Historic Preservation Office" was established in 1974 as the Division of Historical Resources. The legislature of New Hampshire has determined that the historical, archeological, architectural, engineering, and cultural heritage of New Hampshire is among the most important environmental assets of the state and that the rapid social and economic development of contemporary society threatens the remaining vestiges of this heritage; therefore, it is hereby declared to be public policy and in the public interest of this state to engage in a comprehensive program of historic preservation to promote the use and conservation of such property for the education, inspiration, pleasure, and enrichment of the citizens of New Hampshire. |

The Division of Historical Resources (DHR) is seeking an energetic and experienced individual to fill the position of Special Projects and Compliance Specialist. This is a full-time and challenging position, in a busy state agency located in Concord, NH. Details on the jobs duties are available on the supplemental job description. More information on the DHRs programs is available online at http://www.nh.gov/nhdhr/. Within the state system, this is a Historian (Labor Grade 24) position, 37.5 hours per week, with a starting salary of $42,841.50 and full benefits. All New Hampshire state employees are required to pay an agency fee. Review of applications and candidate interviews will begin January 12, 2010. This position will remain open until filled. |
