Job Summary Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Architectural Historian who will be responsible for providing historic preservation services primarily to federal agencies. The Architectural Historian will work with southern California clients out of our Ridgecrest, California office and will be responsible for supporting historic resources projects in the Ridgecrest area. A candidate's professional experience must exhibit strong understanding of cultural resources laws and regulations. Experience in Sections 106 and 110 is preferred. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have a professional demeanor and strong organizational and writing skills, and possess the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask in a fast-paced environment. The candidate should be able to work as a member of a diverse team and manage projects and tasks as delegated by technical and project managers. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. This is a 6-month full time position that may extend to one or more years. The position comes with a full benefits package. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in conducting historic resources assessments, including site inspections, research, photography, and evaluation under National Register of Historic Places and other criteria of significance; Fieldwork (for historic architecture and possibly some general cultural resources fieldwork); Assist in preparing Historic Resources Technical Reports and Context Statements; Assist in compiling Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) documentation packages; Required Qualifications: Experience in cultural resources management with a working command of federal and state cultural resource and historic preservation statutes and regulations; Basic knowledge of the history and architectural history of Southern California; Background in the application of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and preparation of Historic American Buildings Survey documentation; Demonstrated research, writing, and photographic abilities; Ability to use computer hardware, software, and other related information technologies for extended periods on a daily basis. Preferred Qualifications: Applicants should possess at a minimum a bachelor’s degree in Historic Preservation or History. |
