The Preservation League of New York State is seeking a historic preservation program intern to assist with a range of preservation projects at the League’s downtown Albany office. Successful candidates should have or be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, Urban Planning, or a related field, and have: • Strong writing skills; • Ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines; • Ability to work independently; • Attention to detail; • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Access; and • Previous preservation or planning experience (volunteer or paid) desirable. As a Historic Preservation Program intern, you will work primarily with the Regional Directors of Technical and Grant Programs, but could also work with staff from several departments in the office on a variety of preservation projects. Projects may include: • Accompanying Regional Program Directors on historic site visits; • Maintaining and expanding the League’s preservation project database; • Updating the League’s materials on sources of assistance for preservation projects; • Researching and writing an annotated bibliography on wood window restoration; • Researching selected preservation incentives; and • Assisting with writing newsletter articles and other materials for distribution. This internship will run through Summer 2010 and/or Fall 2010, with flexible hours depending on internship credit requirements. |
