Donnelly Training Area, AK


Archaeologist (Research Associate II) position available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands. Position to be assigned at Donnelly Training Area, (DTA), Alaska (Delta Junction, AK approximately 100 miles southeast of Fairbanks, Alaska) to provide support for the Cultural Resources Program at DTA. Position contingent upon the availability of funds.


US Citizenship is required. BS/BA degree in Anthropology with major emphasis in Archaeology. Four years of professional experience in sub-Arctic Archaeology. Have a demonstrated knowledge of survey methodology and ability to direct fieldwork. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and rugged terrain with minimum supervision.

MA/MS degree in Anthropology with emphasis on Archaeology. Experience in directing archaeological surveys, determinations of eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, analysis of archaeological materials, and preparation of research designs. Demonstrated knowledge of Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (as amended), Army Regulation 200-4, 36 Code of Federal Regulations 800, Archeological Resources Protection Act, Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, and other pertinent laws and regulations governing historic properties. Experience with geographic information systems and global positioning system equipment and software. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience working on federal managed public lands.
