Cultural Heritage Research Services, Inc. (CHRS) seeks an Architectural Historian to work out of our main office in North Wales, Pennsylvania. This position is a temporary 6-month position filling a position vacant due to maternity leave. A Masterís degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, History, Urban Planning or related field is required. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, cultural resource management, architectural survey and historical research.

CHRS specializes in Section 106 compliance work and preservation planning. This work includes transportation projects, telecommunications projects, and planning projects of all sizes. Applicants should be familiar with historic resource surveys and should have experience in conducting historic and architectural research on the local level. Knowledge of American architectural history is preferred, with particular emphasis on Mid-Atlantic regional architecture. Applicants should also demonstrate skill in both writing and photography. Familiarity with historic research methods and tools, and experience with architectural documentation (i.e., photography, building descriptions, and sketch site plans), is desired.

This is a 6 month temporary position, and may involve a substantial amount of travel. Possibilities of extending the position for longer than 6 months will be dependent on workload. Applicants must have the flexibility to travel.The position is anticipated to open in September of 2010. Salary is commensurate with experience. No phone calls please.
