DUTIES:

Maintains liaison or communicates with library patrons, supervisors, library staff, other national libraries, library and information networks, information centers, experts in government agencies, associations, the private sector, the general public and/or research groups. Motivates clientele to fully utilize preservation programs and services.

Supports the Preservation Directorate training program by assisting in the implementation of prepared training courses and materials. Implements course plans while presenting classroom instruction. Prepares instructional guides, information packets, and other resource materials.

DUTIES:

Analyzes, evaluates, organizes, and disseminates preservation information and materials in various media for quality, content, and effectiveness.

Prepares written documents, including reports, articles, and formal correspondence through 'Ask a Librarian' queries using Question Point scripts and other means of inquiry relating to preservation. Performs various writing and editing duties for a variety of documents and reports.

EVALUATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision.

Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.

Ability to plan and carry out preservation training and outreach programs. **

Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and techniques of preservation and library science. **

Ability to analyze and organize information and materials.

Ability to provide consultation, liaison, and tour planning, scheduling, and coordinating duties. **

Ability to perform writing and editing duties.
