This Urban Planner I position in our Historic Preservation Section is an entry level planner position. The position will:
Assist in the administration and enforcement of the Alexandria historic preservation regulations and processes;
Assist the public at the Zoning counter;
Manage applications and case files for the section;
Conduct research on architectural and historical facts, including planning and zoning histories;
Analyze concept plans for compliance; review preliminary site plans, plot plans, special use permit conditions, and variances for residential and commercial construction for conformance with the zoning regulations;
Approve construction plans, building permits and certificates of occupancy based on Board of Architectural Review (BAR) decisions and Historic Preservation Design Guidelines;
Write cases for presentation before the BAR;
Other duties as assigned.
