The Arab Image Foundation (AIF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation and study of photography and other visual material from the Middle East, North Africa and the Arab Diaspora.
Established in Beirut in 1997, the foundation currently holds a collection of more than 300,000 photographs, from the mid nineteenth century through today. Since its inception, the AIF has produced fourteen exhibitions and seven publications in partnership with international museums, galleries and cultural institutions. The collection has also provided an invaluable resource for artists’ projects, curatorial initiatives and academic research.

The Arab Image Foundation (AIF) is currently looking for an Archivist to handle and process photographic collections. Archivist position open as of February 1st, 2011 Job description: The successful candidate will work hand in hand with the AIF Collection Manager and Scanning Technician to: - clean and reference photographs in preparation for scanning, annotation and preservation procedures - archive photographic material - prepare analog photo-material for its digitization The Archivist has: - preferably artistic background - excellent organization skills - a strong work ethic - meticulous attention to detail - self-initiative, the ability to work as part of a team, and flexible attitude For further information please contact Zeina Arida, Director of the Arab Image Foundation, tel. 0096(0)1 - 36 13 73. |
