Baltimore Heritage, Inc.

Baltimore Heritage is a nonprofit historic preservation advocacy organization dedicated to supporting the preservation and revitalization of Baltimore’s many historic buildings and neighborhoods. Over the past year, Baltimore Heritage has significantly expanded our outreach online-- we now reach over 500 people through Facebook and over 400 through Twitter. Our blog, featuring tour announcements and our popular Baltimore Building of the Week series, received the Best Neighborhood Blog Award from The Mobbies 2010, a Baltimore Sun organized contest for “Maryland’s Outstanding Blogs.”

Online Communications/Social Media Internship

We are currently seeking an online communications/social media intern during the Winter/Spring semesters to work with Baltimore Heritage staff on maintaining, improving, and expanding the content our organization offers to members and readers online. Specific tasks may include--

• Writing and posting new blog posts on Baltimore Heritage projects/programs

• Developing concepts for new features on the Baltimore Heritage blog

• Maintaining a series on the Baltimore Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation

• Updating the Baltimore Heritage Twitter account and Facebook page

• Documenting Baltimore Heritage programs/events with photo and video

Welcome applicants can have a background in marketing, communications, public history, historic preservation, or significant interest in one of these fields. Experience working with WordPress, Twitter, Flickr, and Facebook is welcome but not required. This position is part-time and unpaid. Course credit may be available for students.
