The Geneva Historical Society seeks a Site Manager for Rose Hill Mansion and the Johnston House/Mike Weaver Drain Tile Museum. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Site Manager plans and oversees the maintenance, repair and restoration of the Rose Hill and Johnston House structures and grounds. The Site Manager is also responsible for the development of programming for adult and family audiences at Rose Hill Mansion and the Johnston House, with a particular emphasis on regular and special theme-based tours of the houses. He/she is responsible for the training, scheduling and supervising of historic interpreters (paid and volunteer) and managing the day-to-day operation of the Visitorsí Center, as well as conducting tours her/himself. With the assistance of the Director of Education and Public Information, the Site Manager also manages marketing and communications related to Rose Hill and the Johnston House. The Site Manager will be provided with a large, on-site apartment as part of the positionís compensation.

Rose Hill Mansion, a National Historic Landmark, was built in 1839 and is a masterpiece of Greek Revival architecture. The interpretation of the property focuses on the Swan Family, who owned the house and farm from 1850-1892. Robert Swan, who operated a model and award-winning farm at Rose Hill, was the student and son-in-law of John Johnston, the first person in the United States to implement a system of agricultural tile drainage. The Johnston familyís house, built in 1821, is also a property of the Geneva Historical Society. It is operated as a historic house museum; also exhibited at the Johnston House property is the Mike Weaver Drain Tile Museum, a collection of drain tiles from ancient times to the present.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of professional museum experience. An aptitude for managing historic structures required; experience with managing building needs preferred. He/she must have the ability to work well with a variety of individuals and audiences, and must have the organizational skills necessary to manage a variety of responsibilities. A strong desire to serve the public and a commitment to professional collaboration are needed.
