The Department of Historic Resources (DHR) is actively recruiting for a Tax Credit Reviewer to conduct reviews for the State Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit and Federal Certified Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Programs. This position is a temporary (6-12 months) hourly position.
This position works closely with other DHR tax credit staff to ensure the coordinated and consistent review of rehabilitation tax credit projects throughout the state of Virginia.
The core responsibilities of this position include:
• Review of proposed and completed Federal and state rehabilitation tax certification projects for
conformance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation
• Assistance to property owners, architects and consultants with project plans and preparation of
applications
• Advise the National Park Service regarding certification of properties and projects
• Site inspections as necessary
• Technical assistance to resolve treatment issues
Qualifications: Superior oral and written communications skills; knowledge of historic architecture of Virginia and/or Mid-Atlantic region; considerable knowledge of technical, legal, and historic resources management practices and procedures as they apply to architectural history and historic buildings, structures, districts and landscapes; knowledge of and experience in applying the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and more specifically, the Standards for Rehabilitation; experience in working as part of an interdisciplinary team; ability to instruct/guide others positively. Ability to proficiently operate Microsoft Office computer software.
Applicants must meet the Secretary Of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards in Architectural History, Architecture, or Historic Architecture.
Hourly compensation commensurate with experience.
