APHN is a non-profit organization owning and managing Melrose Plantation(listed on the National Trust for Historic Buildings) and custodian of the Lemee House located in Natchitoches Parish, both are historic sites important to the history of Natchitoches Parish. Executive Director Job Description
APHN (Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches)
The Executive Director will be a full-time position, responsible for office and site operations, financial management, programs, promotion and fundraising under the direction of the APHN Board of Directors. The Executive Director will report to the President of the Board.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, QuickBooks, and Power Point
Writing and editing skills: correspondence, press releases, program literature,
Organizational skills: set goals/objectives, meet deadlines, coordinate activities
Fundraising experience; understanding of budgeting and financial management
Ability to manage, motivate and supervise staff, contract labor and volunteers
Planning and problem-solving skills
Public relations and public speaking skills; able to work with diverse populations
Academic degree in history, preservation, education, or nonprofit management preferred.
Prior experience with nonprofit organizations, museums, or historic sites preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
• Create a functional office; develop office policies, procedures and staffing
• Oversee programs, services and activities
• Help board president plan agendas and produce materials for board meetings
• Perform routine bookkeeping, negotiate with vendors, operate within the budget
• Maintain and safeguard the assets, records, documents and holdings of APHN
• Overall property and bookstore management
• Develop and oversee the implementation of educational programs
• Supervise and evaluate all paid staff, including property caretaker and bindery staff as well as independent contractors and the web-master
• Recruit, train and place volunteers, ensure meaningful supervision and recognition
• Develop a grants program, and apply as directed by the Board
• Promote membership, programs and tours through marketing activities
• Expand tour days and hours and schedule tour guides
• Maintain active involvement with the Natchitoches associations to present APHN in a strong positive image.
• Support Operations and administration of Board by advising and informing Board Members, interfacing between Board and Staff.
• Human Resource Management of the organization that fully conforms to human resource laws and regulation.
• Other duties as assigned.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS:
Scope of Work Priorities will be set by the Board and reviewed at quarterly intervals.
SALARY: $28,500-$32,000 Salary commensurate with experience.
