Cultural Resources (Senior Historian)/NEPA Specialist

Atlanta, GA

The selected applicant will perform field surveys of historic resources, prepare Section 106 documentation including Historic Resources Survey Reports and Assessment of Effects documents, and coordinate with state and federal resource agencies. In addition, the applicant will work as part of a team of environmental professionals to prepare various National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental documents, coordinate environmental resource studies, and resolve issues for a variety of projects including, but not limited to, transportation projects. Experience should include historic resource identification, Section 106 documentation, Section 4(f) Evaluation, NEPA and/or Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA) document preparation, and independent technical report writing. This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking. Occasional travel is required. The Senior Historian/NEPA specialist will work with internal staff as well as Prime and Subconsultant firms, including design staff, to work on ways to avoid/minimize impacts to identified NRHP-eligible resources.


Seven (7) + years of experience with historic resource identification and documentation is required. Experience in NEPA/GEPA documentation and working knowledge of Georgia Department of Transportation NEPA requirements is preferred.

Required Education:

Bachelor degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, or similar area of study.

Preferred Education:

Masters degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, or similar area of study.
