Manchester Historical Society

The Manchester Historical Society educates the public about the history of Manchester, Connecticut; collects, preserves, interprets and exhibits information and artifacts about the town and its diverse population, and advocates for the preservation of significant historic resources. Established in 1965, the Society is traditionally a volunteer-run organization but is seeking professional and knowledgeable leadership to address projects involving institutional effectiveness and sustainability in order to allow the Society board to focus on governance and strategic planning.

The Manchester Historical Society in Manchester, CT seeks a part-time Executive Director to effect the long-term vitality of the organization by implementing the strategic initiatives of the organization, increasing sources of unrestricted income, and ensuring that the organization continues to attract and retain a broad core of talented and motivated volunteers. Essential duties include implementing the strategic goals and objectives of the organization by providing leadership, direction and accountability; enhancing fundraising strategies and playing a direct role in increasing unrestricted income including donor solicitation and coaching the board in its fundraising role; organizing the volunteer structure of the Society by creating and overseeing a volunteer involvement program and inspiring the current dedicated multi-talented volunteer workforce.
