CRC anticipates hiring a temporary Architectural Historian for the remainder of our 2011 field season. Employment will be for approximately three to four months, ending in October or November 2011. Responsibilities: The position combines research, fieldwork, and report writing for a variety of projects. The selected individual will work with guidance from the firm’s principals, although he/she will also need to take initiative to resolve problems and be creative to assure tasks are completed in the most effective manner. CRC’s projects are often technically challenging and complex; the selected individual must be able to meet deadlines and work collaboratively with archeologists and historians. Some specific duties might include: researching historical documents, photographs, plans, drawings, and related items to collect information about specific historic structures;preparing historic structure reports documenting existing conditions;assessing the significance of identified resources;determining the possible effects of projects on significant resources.Minimum/Required Qualifications: This position requires at least a Masters (MA/MS) degree in architectural history or historic preservation and related experience. Candidates must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards. Previous Alaskan experience is preferred, but not necessary. Candidates should be proficient in research and documentation. Strong computer and communication skills are a must.
Special Working Conditions/Job Characteristics: The job will require overnight travel to areas of the state outside of Anchorage. Tolerance for Alaskan weather and the ability to get along with co-workers is crucial. Salary: The salary offered for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications of the selected applicant, although the hourly rate will be above average. As necessary for trips outside of Anchorage, transportation, lodging, and meals will be provided. |
