Fallingwater, one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most acclaimed buildings, has achieved iconic status worldwide and welcomes 150,000 annual visitors. The house exemplifies Wright’s concept of organic architecture, which promotes harmony between people and nature through design. It was built in 1936 for the family of Edgar J. Kaufmann. In 1963, Edgar Kaufmann jr. donated Fallingwater and its grounds to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, which opened it to the public the following year. Fallingwater is internationally recognized for the preservation of its buildings and collections; the protection and diversity of its site; and the quality and innovation of its educational programming. |
