The genesis of Downtown Frankfort, Inc began in 1989 when a group of concerned property and business owners came together to address the needs of Frankfortís downtown commercial historic district. They adopted, and we still use, the National Main Street Centerís innovative, four-point approach which focuses on design, organization, promotion, and economic restructuring. This holistic approach serves to address downtown revitalization and economic development through historic preservation. The goal of Downtown Frankfort, Inc. is to stimulate downtown economic development in Frankfort, and is a partnership between the City of Frankfort, Franklin County Fiscal Court, as well as corporate and private sponsors. We are a member and committee driven, non-profit organization that is overseen by a Board of Directors and administered by an Executive Director.

Downtown Frankfort, Inc. (DFI), a non-profit membership organization is seeking qualified applicants for its Executive Director position. The Executive Director manages the daily operations of DFI, and is responsible for implementing, and coordinating Kentucky Main Street program activities, including promotion, design/historic preservation, organization, and economic development. The Executive Director is responsible for focused revitalization activities (supporting living, working, and investing in downtown), fundraising, membership recruitment, and fostering public/private partnerships. Candidates must be entrepreneurial, energetic, well organized, and capable of functioning in an independent situation. Qualifications: Bachelors degree or equivalent, with 2+ years of related administrative experience. Education and/or experience in one or more of the following areas is required: historic preservation, economics, finance, public relations, design, planning, business administration, public administration, retailing, marketing, volunteering or non-profit administration, and/or small business development. Salary range: $30K-$40K. Must relocate or reside in Franklin County.
