Partners for Sacred Places is the only National, non-sectarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to the sound stewardship and active community use of America’s older religious properties. Founded in 1989 by religious, historic preservation and philanthropic leaders, Partners provides assistance to the people who care for sacred places and promotes a greater understanding of how these places sustain communities.

Arts in Sacred Places and Administrative Intern
Internship Opportunity
Chicago, IL

We are seeking an energetic, well-organized intern to work on Partners' newest project, Arts in Sacred Places (AiSP), at our Chicago Regional Office. AiSP aims to create mutually beneficial relationships between Chicago's historic houses of worship and the arts community, by connecting those with space with those that need space. He/she must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), social media, have good interpersonal skills and be available 8-10 hrs/week. The ideal candidate should have some administrative and/or development experience. Non-profit experience a plus but not required.

Responsibilities: Develop and expand database of artists and arts oranizations (theater, dance, music and the visual arts) interested in space-sharing relationships with historic houses of worship; Survey and interview artists/organizations to gauge their space needs and interest in collaboration with congregations; Assist Chicago regional office personnel with administrative and development support; Other reasonable duties, as assigned by supervisor.

The appropriate individual(s) will have the opportunity to gain experience working in a non-profit office environment in downtown Chicago. This is an unpaid internship though Partners for Sacred Places covers work-related public transportation expenses and the cost of errands, as needed. We would like for the intern(s) to start mid-end October and work until at least the remainder of the year. There is also an opportunity to extend the internship into 2012.
