Position Announcement for a Historic Preservationist/Housing Planner

The East Tennessee Development District is seeking applicants for the position of Historic Preservationist / Housing Planner.  Responsibilities will include providing technical assistance to individuals, city governments and not-for-profit organizations regarding historic preservation and housing programs and activities.  Additional responsibilities will include grant preparation; historic and architectural resource surveys; Section 106 reviews; preparation of nominations to the National Register of Historic Places; and management of an emergency repair program for the elderly.  Position requires familiarity with historic preservation programs, strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to work in a self directed environment and to work effectively with local officials.  Minimum requirements are an undergraduate degree with a major in historic preservation or a closely related subject.  Some experience or a supervised internship in the historic preservation field is preferred.  A graduate degree in historic preservation will be preferred.
