The candidate selected will be offered a term appointment not-to-exceed 13 months, which may be extended to a maximum of four years based on funding, workload requirements and organizational staffing authorizations.
The National Park Service (NPS) is looking for an enthusiastic individual to serve as Chief of Archeology and Collections Program in the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT) of the NPS located in Natchitoches, LA. The Chief will oversee short and long term research development and provides expert technical advice regarding the application of professional standards and practice. The individual will be responsible for Service policies, guidelines, standards, and technical information. The incumbent will translate results of the research program into training products, coordinating and participating in employee development courses and education.
The NCPTT is responsible for all service wide and nationwide activities related to developing preservation technologies for the discovery and management of historic and prehistoric archeological resources in the United States, and for training cultural resource professionals both inside and outside the Nation Park Service. The cultural resources include World Heritage Sites, National Historic Landmarks, and other national, state, and local significance.
