Whipple Company Store & Heritage Museum is seeking a summer intern to assist with census/genealogy research. Work will include varied tasks related to digital materials and website development of Resources page on Whipple Company Store website to create information for visitors looking for genealogy assistance,census research, related to historic coal fields in Fayette County WV. Work plan can be tailored to interns individual interests and expertise. Interns will be working closely with museum staff and other volunteers, and are asked to help with Whipple's general office operations and provide building tours when needed.

Historical background and experience with museums, libraries, and working with the public a plus. Applicants should have an interest in West Virginia history or Appalachian studies. Organizational skills and attention to detail beneficial . Research and editing experience is a plus. Computer literacy helpful. Experience using a digital camera and scanner a must.

Housing and facilities will be provided.  There is no stipend available.
