We are seeking a Senior Archaeologist/Principal Investigator with cultural resources project management and consulting experience for our Sheridan, Wyoming office. The selected candidate will help expand SWCA's professional reputation in cultural resource consulting by providing assistance on projects in his or her area of expertise. This is a regular, full-time, salaried position reporting to the Office Director. Salary will be based on individual qualifications and experience. Required Skills

  • Manage projects within schedule and budget expectations; manage milestones, subcontractors, technical staff, fieldwork, and written deliverables as required;
  • Maintain a collaborative work environment between SWCA staff, subcontractors, and clients;
  • Coordinate with the client; supervise, direct, and instruct subcontractors;
  • Prepare proposals, reports, and contribute to Research Designs, Treatment Plans, and other technical documents;
  • Oversee and perform all aspects of field research, data collection, inventory, analyses, and report production;
  • Coordinate permitting and follow agency guidelines to ensure proper permits, authorizations, and procedures are in place for project efforts;
  • Take initiative, resolve problems, and implement improved procedures to assure tasks are completed in an effective manner, including streamlining interoffice reporting efforts and communication (e.g., between Sheridan and Denver offices);
  • Work closely with SWCAs other managers and directors in both natural and cultural resources throughout the company to promote SWCAs business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values (visit www.swca.com for more information);
  • Assist with Business Development goals and objectives for SWCAs Rocky Mountain Central Region.


Required Experience

  • M.S./M.A. or B.A. (or equivalent experience) in cultural resources/archaeology, anthropology or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in cultural resource project management, planning, science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing new business and leading major proposal efforts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to cultural resources/Section 106.
  • Demonstrated history working with Wyoming SHPO and BLM Offices quality experience working with surrounding states (MT, CO, ND, ID, NE) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of cultural resources in the Rocky Mountains/Plains regions.
  • Experience working with tribes and/or THPOs in the Rocky Mountain/Plains.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to foster a friendly, positive, productive, and scholarly working relationship with team members.
  • Proven experience with high-level agency consultation.
