HDR EOC is currently in need of an Architectural Historian in our Vienna, VA location. The Architectural Historian's responsibilities will include research, writing reports, determinations of eligibility and effects assessments, as well as the review of a variety of cultural resource projects. They will also conduct architectural field surveys, write architectural descriptions, use 35mm and digital cameras, conduct historical research, and write National Register nominations. Bachelors degree in Architecture, Historic Preservation, Architectural History, or History with an emphasis on buildings/architecture required; Masters degree preferred. Applicants must meet the Secretary of the Interiors Professional Qualification Standards as a Historian and/or Architectural Historian. 2+ years of experience conducting architectural field surveys, writing architectural descriptions, using 35mm and digital cameras, conducting historical research, and writing National Register nominations required. Must be capable of managing multiple projects with fast-paced deliverables. Excellent research and writing skills, as well as the ability to produce technical reports in a timely manner, are essential to this role. Experience with Section 106 and NEPA preferred. Project work extends throughout the U.S.; travel is required. Qualified candidates may be asked to provide resumes, sample architectural descriptions, and at least one relevant writing sample.
This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with HDR's vehicle policy.
