Provide professional support to the In Div. of Historic Preservation & Archaeology to complete reviews of projects pursuant to Section 106 of the National Preservation Act.  In addition:

1) Provide to government officials and staff members, consultants, & the public :Info about the status of project reviews and environmental review requirements as they pertain to historic properties; 2) Advise government agencies, consultants, or applicants for funding or licensing whether addt. info will be required before substantive review of their projects can begin; 3)Draft letters about various kinds of projects; 4) Initiate reviews of projects to identify historic buildings and structures that may be affected; 5) Interpret the criteria of eligibility of the Natl. Register of historic places and the In Register of Historic Sites & Structures and apply them to properties; 6) Analyze findings or proposed findings of "no historic properties affected" or "no adverse effect", 7)Help to maintain project review paper and electronic files; 8)Perform related duties as assigned.

Min. Qualifications:  Bachlor's degree or equivalent in architectural history, art history, historic preservation or a closely related field; at least one year of experience in research, writing or teaching in American arch history or restoration architecture.  Preferred Qualifications:  graduate degree in history, architectural history, art history, historic preservation or a closely related field with coursework in American arch history; substantial contribution through research and publication.
