This position serves as the deputy historic preservation officer who fulfills the regulatory historic preservation roles and activities for the Montana Historic Preservation Office in accordance with professional standards and guidelines, the state antquities codes, and federal regulations under the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended, especially 36CFR800, implementing regulations for Section 106 of the NHPA. The incumbent concentrates primarily on historic period site resource preservation (to include historic mining and industrial properties, rural venacular historic properties, community historic districts, railroads, irigation features, bridges, roads and trails and more)
The applicant must meet and exceed the SOI qualifications, speciafically MA (History, Historic Preservation, Historic Archaeology/Anthropology) with emphasis on North America + 1 yr cultural resource/historic preservation work experience (may include internship/practicum experience)
OR
BA in History/Historic Preservation/Historic Archaeology or closely related field (Anthropology) with emphasis on North America + 4-5 years of historic preservation job-related work experience.
