Dovetail Cultural Resource Group (Dovetail) is currently accepting applications for a full time Project Archaeologist in our Fredericksburg, Virginia office. The Project Archaeologists is responsible for day to day management of small to large scale projects and monitoring budget status.  They are also responsible for management of field personnel and development of project documentation including reports.  Candidates should have a proven ability to perform in a management capacity and to direct archaeological fieldwork, laboratory research, and report preparation, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. The position may involve weekly travel in the mid-Atlantic region on a project basis.

A Masters degree in anthropology, archaeology, history or related field is preferred, but individuals with a Bachelors degree and extensive supervisory and report production experience will be considered. A familiarity with SHPO standards in the Mid-Atlantic States and federal preservation regulations is required. A research focus in historical archaeology is preferred.
