The New Hampshire Department of Transportation is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Cultural Resources Assistant.  This position will assist in the planning and development of transportation projects and maintenance/operations activities for the Bureau of Environment, NHDOT, placing an emphasis on performing, coordinating and evaluating archaeological and/or architectural/historic resources investigations.


Qualifications:  Requires a Bachelors degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in Architectural History, Archeology or Community Development/Planning or other related fields of study.  Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.  Four years of experience in architectural history, archaeology, history, or architecture. 


Preference will be given to those candidates who have the following qualifications: Knowledge and experience in Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the related Advisory Council on Historic Preservation Regulations, as well as computer database skills.  Preference will also be given to candidates who are qualified under 36 CFR PART 61 as an archaeologist and/or architectural historian.
