Are you interested in working with a nationally-known organization that is making a difference in preserving our nations Civil War heritage? Do you want to gain skills and knowledge about how successful non-profits raise money, and how they use that money effectively to fulfill their mission? If you are interested in history, preservation, and raising money for important causes, this may be the internship for you.
The Civil War Trust is the nations largest organization dedicated to preserving Civil War battlefields. The Trust has successfully preserved over 32,000 acres in 20 states. We are in the midst of commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War, and we have announced a Capital Campaign with a goal of raising $40 million dollars over five years to save 20,000 acres.
The Civil War Trust is seeking an intern for the Fall Semester to assist the Development Department as we move forward with our Capital Campaign. This intern will assist with donor and prospect research, which includes compiling membership and biographical information about specific donors. The intern will also take part in an ongoing Civil War by State research project, which requires the use of secondary sources. The intern will also assist with data entry in Raisers Edge to ensure that our constituent database is up to date. Various other duties and projects will be assigned throughout the semester, including some administrative duties.
The Civil War Trust is looking for individuals with a passion for history, as well as good interpersonal, writing and computer skills. Applicants proficient in MS office are preferred. This is a part-time or full-time position with hours to be determined with the candidate. The intern will work from the Washington, DC office.
